Courthouse
This tired public
building was going through yet another  change, with
relocation of administrative functions leaving an entire floor
vacant. A building master plan was proposed with a 5-year
timeline to create a warm yet professional environment that
would give—and get—respect. Courtrooms, work stations,
offices, common areas: all were planned and finished by
Watson Design. |

Project scope:
• Remodel included demolition
of walls, new-wall construction, updating mechanicals, moving
departments, and new furniture. • Create preliminary plan based on focus groups and
security needs, including
moving entrances to the building. • Determine new signage through way finding research • Offer budget for presentation, review and
approval by board of
commissioners • Inventory existing furniture,
calculate reuse, specify new furniture
through bid process.
Special achievement:
Watson Design stayed on top of a complicated design, bid,
approval and installation process for this long-term project, which did not involve an architect.
